වර්තමාන කොළඹ මහනුවර ප්‍රධාන 5 මාර්ගයේ ගමන් කරන විට හමුවන මහා මහවැලි ගඟේ අතු ගංගාවක් වන නානු ඔය නම් ස්ථානයේ සිට දුම්රිය හරස් මාර්ගයක් වැටී ඇති තැනින් වමට හැරී සැතපුමකට ආසන්න දුරක් ආ විට නිසසල රමණීය කඳු ගැටයක මුදුනෙහි විරාජමාන ව නැගී සිටින මේ සුපිංබිම දැක ගත හැකිය. ස්වභාවික වෘක්ෂ ලතා ආදීන්ගෙන් ගහන රමණීය පරිසරයකින් යුක්ත ශාන්ත වූ වටපිටාවකින් අනූන මෙම රණවන පුරාණ විහාරස්ථානය එදා බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ විසින් පස්සනා ලද අයුරින්ම සිත් සනසන ක්ෂේම භූමියක් බව මෙහි පැමිණෙන කාහටත් සක්සුදක්සේ පැහැදිලි වන කරුණකි.
මෙහි සියලු මෙහෙවර උසුලනුයේ එක් අමරණීය චරිතයකි එනම් මෙම උතුම් විහාරස්ථානයේ වර්තමාන විහාරාධිපති ධූරය උසුලන අප ගුරුදේවෝත්තම නාහිමිපාණෝයි.

( රණවන පුරාණ රජමහා විහාරය) is a Buddhist temple situated in Pilimathalawa in Kandy District, Sri Lanka. The temple can be reached by travelling along the Ranawana temple road that starts from the Kiribathkumbura Highway Museum Junction on the Colombo-Kandy Highway.
The calm ascetic environment and some modern monastic features including the tallest walking Buddha statue in the country have made this temple an attractive place among local and foreign visitors.
